Let Sachin decide his place!! Ridiculous claim!

Well, before you guys jump on me, listen me out here. I am a pretty big fan of Tendulkar - as is most of India. I am equally passionate about everything that Tendulkar does - be it - his new house in Bandra, his amazing line-up of cars or having all his records at the top of my head. I can just about spurt out any record - just like Vicky-the Robot.

But! Yes, this is the “but” in this article.

All these claims going around that Sachin should decide when he wants to retire is plain foolish and ridiculous. Now, I am not saying that remove him from the team because of his age - but remove him based on his form, if need be - AND I am not the one to decide whether or not he is in form. We have a bunch of selectors to decide what is right for the team, right now and in the future. So, if they feel that Sachin has a dip in his form ( which he has btw) and that we would be well served if we have more youngsters in the team, we should do it that way. The youngsters might be as bad as sachin is right now - but at least their failures add up to something - it would help them in their career. Kolhi is an apt example at this point.

And please, dont stack up records in front of me - because I can just as easily do that. Akram has 500 wickets, does that mean Pakistan team should have him in the team now? Or do we want Kapil in the team now - just coz our fast bowling sucks?

The point is to look ahead while simultaneously looking at the present. Personally, it makes no sense to me in retaining Sachin in ODI’s and its better that people realise it soon. He is still the genuis he once was, but the mind and the body are different.

To all the fanatics out there - even if in one year, Sachin comes back to form and scores 10 centuries in a row - I would still stick to my call. He would not achieve anything more than what he has achieved now - other than that stupid record of 100 centuries - which we ‘schmucks’ are clamouring for.

His legacy is going to be an unchallenged one.

So, let the selectors decide whats the best playing 11.

Note: Finally, to all the people who say who are you to say that, lets just say that its my freedom of expression!!
